Since last year, Los Cabos has grown significantly in popularity and moved up the rankings to take second place among Mexican beach destinations

Since Cancun, Tulum, and other Riviera Maya attractions were so well-liked, Los Cabos had for a long time been a minor player in the Mexican tourism sector. Despite the area’s enormous potential, sunbathers who had previously traveled south of the border and were completely enthralled by the Caribbean Sea’s crystal clarity and booming resort industry disregarded the gorgeous place.

However, as time went on, the Riviera Maya began to lose some of its charms as a result of mass tourism and ongoing price hikes, while “The Capes,” which encompass both Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, gained favor as a much more laid-back option not yet overtaken by the throngs.

Because of this, it moved up the list and became Mexico’s second most popular destination in 2022, right behind Cancun, according to Travel Off Path. Los Cabos International, the largest airport in Baja California Sur, saw under 4 million arrivals from January to December of last year. That’s still a long way off from Cancun’s 8 million.

The four million mark is already 20% higher than the number recorded in 2021, as is evident once again, notes The Cabo Sun. The Capes continue to expand economically. In essence, they have surpassed Cancun, Mexico City, and Puerto Vallarta as the fastest-growing Mexican destination.

Los Cabos was already showing signs that it was on track to surpass Cancun in terms of growth by September 2022, with a 32.6 percent increase in visitors during the Northern Hemisphere summer compared to the Caribbean hub’s much more modest 26.6 percent increase, per Traveling Lifestyle.

Luxurious lodgings and one-of-a-kind activities abound in Los Cabos, and the city’s staggering landscape and proximity to the coastlines only add to the special surrounding environment. The two cities were recently named thebest wellness destinations in Mexico due to their “greatest presence” of healing resorts in the Americas.

The majority of travelers feel secure while visiting Los Cabos. However, like with any other place with a high volume of visitors, you should take safety precautions and be alert of your surroundings. According toDetour, various safety precautions, such as heightened police presence and security at famous tourist destinations, have been adopted by the local government and the tourism sector to protect the safety of tourists.

Avoid roaming around at night in unfamiliar locations unaccompanied, and don’t leave belongings lying around. Also, use trustworthy transportation services. It’s also smart to check in with your hotel or the local authorities to see if there are any active safety concerns.
