Meet Mecca Notes, a Nigerian and New Orleanian vocalist, as he chats R&B and which albums to belt on a road trip at the International Arts Festival in New Orleans.

Acclaimed vocalist Mecca Notes confessed that he doesn’t listen to much music while traveling.

“As an artist, sometimes you need time to decompress,” he explained to DETOUR backstage at the International Arts Festival in New Orleans. “And the road is a great time to do that.”

Yet, whenever he finds himself in the mood for some music while in transit, Mecca Notes chooses old school R&B.

“One of my favorites is Usher’s Confessions,” he said. “I let the whole album play; I’m singing at the top of my lungs and just having a concert!”
