When Julian Vaughn traveled to the International Arts Festival in New Orleans, he was itching to get on the stage.

“I couldn’t wait to perform at the reboot [of the festival], ‘‘ he told Detour ahead of his performance. The International Arts Festival returned to the Big Easy for the first time since 2008, with Crescent Park as its new location.

As Vaughn prepared to kick-off the festival, he spoke with Detour about the importance of music.

“Music brings people together, music can heal wounds and broken hearts,” he said “You don’t even need to talk, music will do the talking for you.”
