The resort, located in the Dominican Republic, opens June 1.

A new, sustainable resort is coming to the Dominican Republic on June 1. The Cayo Levantado Resort will make its debut on the island of Cayo Levantado and combines sustainability elements and innovation to create an eco-friendly impact, reports Travel Pulse.

The five-star resort is owned and operated by the family-owned Grupo Pinero. The group also operates Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts locations. The Cayo Levantado is intended to be in its own distinguished lane within the luxury resort segment with its focus on the environment and sustainability.

“In order to operate and power the hotel efficiently, gardening, waste management and renewable energy is required,” del Toro continued. “Among the renewable energy sources, you’ll find thermal energy, heat recovery and solar panels.”

The Cayo Levantado Resort’s concept is “A Rhythm All Its Own.” Guests are invited to “discover your own, inner rhythm.”

Wellness here is a holistic integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, fueling the body, engaging the mind, and nurturing the spirit,” reads the resort’s website. “Designed with four wellness paths that create an atmosphere perfectly suited to refresh vigor, restore balance, relax tension, and renew vibrancy, the wellness area is both an environment and a state of being.

Wellness-focused accommodations include a spa, a personal training studio, an outdoor cross training area, a botanical garden, and a “slow food” restaurant, which focuses on “offering sustainably sourced, fresh produce and time-honored, slow cooking traditions.”

Although the resort’s opening is this summer, you can book your stay now.
