When John Starks was transitioning from his basketball career, he discovered golf. For Starks, it was a way to stay active and still compete with his friends. Now, he loves the game.

DETOUR caught up with Starks at Wild Turkey Golf Club in Hamburg, NJ, where the former NBA star joined Black golfers for the Original Tee Golf Classic. The tournament brings together golf enthusiasts from different paths of life, to compete, network and forge connections.

Starks loves to travel for golf, he told DETOUR, as he shared details of his upcoming family trip to Barbados.
