Meet Troy Mullins, Black female professional golfer and World Long Drive champion, as she discusses how she got into the sport and the changes she wishes to see.

For Troy Mullins, golf was the second best thing she could get – after an injury at college she was looking for a sport to supplant her career as a runner.

“I fell in love,” she explained with a laugh when she told DETOUR about her first time playing golf.

As a professional long range golfer Mullins sees how getting started could be difficult for younger people who were not born into the game or don’t have financial means to start playing. She wishes there were more opportunities that would spark their interest.

“Because once you hit it good one time, you’re done, you’re stuck!” Mullins says and judging from the way she speaks about the game, we believe she’s infected with love.

See it for yourself in the video below and let us know if Troy Mullins inspired you to spend a day on the golf course.
